Sailing on Lake Achensee
Sailing in the Alps? What might not seem like a good match at first glance turns out to be a "perfect match". Lake Achensee not only has the requisite winds, but also boasts spectacular scenery. If you are new to sailing, Lake Achensee is a great place to learn the basics. The wind conditions are usually ideal for sailing and sometimes challenging. The light southerly winds (1-2 Beaufort) in the morning and the strong northerly winds (3-5 Beaufort) in the afternoon require strength, coordination and courage to manoeuvre the boats across the water. By the way, Lake Achensee regularly plays host to international regattas.
